Why buy a parking sticker? Grab your towels and walk down to Great Pond for a fresh water dip in a 17-acre natural kettle pond. Just .2 miles down the street (or about 3-5 minute walk or stroll), Great Pond is well known for being a popular place for swimming, kayaking, stand up paddle boarding, and boating. It is fantastic for the little ones or even the older crowd that may have difficulty navigating strong currents or tall waves. After a morning swim you can shower off in your large outdoor shower under the trees. Maybe hop on your bikes and follow the Cape Cod Rail Trail into Orleans for lunch at the Hole In One or Sunburst, or grab a coffee and some chocolates at the Hot Chocolate Sparrow. Head back to explore the Salt Pond Visitors center and try their scavenger hunt. There is so much to do and see right here in the Heart of Cape Cod. As guests of the Getaway, a state-of-the-art digital house manual and recommendations guide will be provided to you filled with things to do during your visit.

Your bright and cheerful cottage has two bedrooms, each with two single beds, and a loft with a queen-sized bed and dressing room. The living room is comfortable and just screams “kick your shoes off and stay a while!”. So, feel free to do so. No one will judge if you binge watch that cable tv show you have been secretly wanting to watch – it is your vacation! The full kitchen has everything you need to prepare meals in but there is also a nice gas grill to sear up steaks, seafood, and other delectable delights on. There are a/c units to keep you cool when the Cape Cod Breeze isn’t enough and heat for when the nights turn chilly. Outside you have plenty of seating to relax and chat while the kids play in the yard. The picnic table is large enough for everyone to eat outside as well.

The Getaway is centrally located between the best of the bayside beaches and the oceanside beaches. Kingsbury beach and First Encounter beach (where the Pilgrims first encountered the Nauset tribe of the Wamanoags) are both just over a mile away on either side of the cottage. Across from the cottage, on the other side, lies Coast Guard beach and Nauset Light (made famous by Cape Cod Potato Chips) which are roughly 3 miles away. Besides the beaches, the Getaway is close to mini-golf, Arnold’s, the Wellfleet drive-in, and every ice cream flavor you can imagine. Even vegan and soy varieties!

The toughest decision you will be tasked with is deciding where to watch the sunset. And even that is an easy one. Just a short walk down the street and you will be treated to Mother Nature’s water color palette in the sky. Raise your glass in honor of fine art on Cape Cod!

Great Fall Getaway!

My family of 5 stayed (3 boys: ages 8, 10, &12; my husband & I): on a rainy/stormy weekend; Tara was very available and accommodating; she came over while we were away to turn up the heat for us so we came back to a warm and cozy cottage. The location of the cottage is perfect, away from traffic yet close to great places to eat, shop and engage in family activities (biking, walking, miniature golf, Ben & Jerry's, coffee shops, flea market, beaches etc..). We did not get to enjoy the beach due to the weather but we still had a wonderful family time together at the soccer tournament, cooking at the cottage eating out and ice cream at Ben and Jerry's. Great fall getaway...we would totally stay there again😊”

Little Piece of Heaven

Another wonderful vacation for the entire family! We are so lucky to have this place to look forward to and have been coming here for years. So conveniently located - to Great Pond (just around the corner), Kingsbury Beach (a short bike ride away), and the ocean (by bike or car). The "cottage" is perfect for the five (sometimes six) of us. Cozy and clean. The owners, Renie and Steve are wonderful and welcoming. Looking forward to another great time on the Cape at our "little piece of heaven" in Eastham come 2020!

Great Pond Getaway

This is a great, clean, comfy house in a great location a five-minute walk from Great Pond and a five-minute bike ride to the Cape Cod Rail Trail. It's also a quick drive to bay beaches or to the ocean side. Tara is lovely, too. She came by and loaned us some huge rafts so we could float down the inlet at First Encounter Beach (which is a fun activity I definitely recommend. Investigate what's the best for doing it in terms of the tides).
